The AOA conference is unique! We are the only obesity conference to focus on policy issues, and our objective is to gather experts on obesity to get to the root of the problem and initiate government action.
Our conference focuses on issues such as: childhood obesity, insurance reimbursement, consumer protection, developments in obesity drugs and other modes of treatment, and the role of schools and employers in preventing obesity.
AOA conference speakers have included prestigious researchers and clinicians, leaders from other health care organizations, managed care, employers, media leaders and government officials including policymakers from Congress and the Administration.
The AOA conference draws nearly 300 attendees including physicians, nurses, nutritionists/dietitians, psychologists and other healthcare professionals working with children, adolescents and adults with obesity, along with, healthcare policy makers, educators, healthcare insurers, business leaders and the press.
We have also used the conference as an opportunity to develop relationships with many governmental and private organizations concerned about health issues among women, minority groups and children. We continue to use these contacts and visibility to promote our mission.
