AOA Membership
  Membership with a Mission

Your membership dollars help the AOA to continue to work for you. The AOA develops educational materials for the public and health professionals, commissions research studies to further understand obesity and advocates that:

  • Obesity should receive its fair share of federal funding.
  • Obesity should be regarded by the health insurance industry as a disease and persons with obesity should be allowed access to treat
  • their disease as is done with other diseases.
  • Persons with obesity are entitled to freedom from discrimination and stigma, just like persons suffering from other diseases and disability.
  • The media needs accurate scientific and medical information about obesity and its treatment.
  • Obesity treatment must be free of fraud and quackery.
