or more persons eligible for Category 2. If a program
has multiple locations, each location must submit its

A program that meets the criteria for Category 3,
and involves research or teaching, or both.
- Research: Program involves active research on obesity
(evidenced by three or more publications in the last
five years in peer reviewed journals).
- Teaching: Program involves educating professional providers who serve patients with obesity. (Must be an active, accredited university-level program)

Members enrolling in Categories 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 also receive a certificate of recognition stating agreement to the AOA's Patient's Bill of Rights, and will be listed in the AOA Provider Directory.
AOA Provider Directory
Members enrolling in Categories 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 (Professional Provider, Obesity Specialty Clinic, Center of Excellence, Corporation or Non-Profit / Government / Small Business) are eligible to be listed in the AOA Provider Directory. The directory is an on-line resource with the purpose of helping consumers find appropriate professional assistance.
